Finally, my flying car..
Their discovery could ultimately lead to frictionless micro-machines with moving parts that levitate But they say that, in principle at least, the same effect could be used to levitate bigger objects too, even a person.

how many possibilities this technology will(/could) open is truly amazing.

Yes was reading the same article this morning, truely amazing! Think the levitation of humans is till far-far off but the scope of frictionless engines etc is just amazing!

The possibilities are of course almost endless :D I'll follow this with interest.

Safe money is on us not seeing anything to do with it for seventy years or so though :(

Not a chance bucko :D

No shares for you. Shares only to rich oil magnates so they don't lose too much share. Cos who needs petrol when you are levitating, frictionless and can just stick your head out the window and puff? :D

From the article over at El Reg :

This raises visions of a beautiful but perhaps ethically troubling future with mighty hover vessels plying the skies, lifted on the backs of hundreds of genetically or surgically modified ground-repelling geckoes. No doubt in time some kind of squamatan-effects coating or generator would replace the early aerial gecko-galleons but in the meantime the potential for lizard abuse would be horrific.

:D :D :D

oh god save us !!!

now we are going to have flying taxis

I'm not holding my breath. Sounds like good research blown way out of proportion by the media.

We have always had flying taxis, what we really need is to get rid of the taxi drivers and replace them with deflatable autopilots :D
