Would you buy the 2007 IS for R150k with around 160 000KM?
I just test drove one this afternoon and I felt like buying it right there.

No, too expensive for that mileage and year. Depending on overall condition, knock at least R30,000 off that price (and even then it's only fair, not a great deal).

Also is is the S spec, or the SE spec? SE spec came with a sunroof and navigation, S spec didn't. If's it's only an S spec take another R15,000 off.

They're amazing cars, my mother has one and I can wax lyrical about the comfort and economy as a town/highway cruiser.

If everything else is sound and the car looks good inside and out I would probably low ball at R125k.

(I have no idea what their market values are right now).

My concern would only be the price, not the age or mileage.

Lexus, awesome cars, kahrk resale. That befuddles my mind.

They don't have the same perception as the big 3 Germans (Audi, BMW, Merc - no Roux, Opel doesn't count as German). Which is great if you're looking to score on the second hand market.

I would say go SE or go home. S spec looks too "ugly" inside due to lack of ts.

Regular S spec is still a great alternative, you get over the looks pretty quickly (one must remember it is from 2006). Plus it's still a smooth, refined, comfortable drive with some great benefits (good sound system, very economical even though it's a 2.5L V6 with an auto box, geared well so that power delivery is enough even at altitude).

The light grey leather option also grows on you. I personally prefer black, but it's not too shabby.

You could always save yourself R50,000 and get a Subaru Legacy (I did this, 3L flat six that drinks like a fish). The Lexus is better by most metrics, though it all depends how important R50,000 is to you.

The car has been sold. I will keep on searching since my car has been written-off on Saturday.

Definitely overpriced. When I was looking for one I came across a 2012 SE with 60km for 210k. For a 2007 with that mileage you should be looking at <115k.

I would definitely recommend you consider getting the IS 250. Reliability, sporty and elegance in an affordable package. I own an is200 as well as an is250 SE. Both awesome cars which don't miss a beat.

Try to find an SE with the Mark Levinson sound package. You won't regret it.

What year? Company pays my petrol, so I might look for a legacy wagon.

2006 with 130,000kms on the clock, full service history, fantastic condition inside and out. Full leather, sunroof, 10.1 McIntosh sound system, huge boot, full size spare, brand new tyres, all wheel drive, brand new brakes, pearlescent white paint, WRX mags, paid under R80,000. Mine is auto which contributes to the drinking problem, the manual is more frugal. Although if you aren't concerned with power you can look for the 2.0 R version for roughly the same money.
