We're loving our 42" Panasonic Plasma, it's only 480p but hey, R13k wasn't a bad price for the unit, and it has 5yr warranty. Most of the stuff we watch is 480p and no burn ins yet, besides, the picture quality and colour is stunning.. I've seen some top end LCDs with really quirky colour.
But it all really boils down to how fussy one is and what features you want.
We mainly just wanted big screen, good picture and solid black tones and not have to pay more than R15k, so we scored
By the time we want to upgrade to a proper 1080i/p HDTV set and HDTV and HD-DVD is common place, 42" LCD 1080i/p units will be affordable

On second thought, I just saw the 42" at Game today. I'm upping my budget to R20 000 and getting the 42" instead. Cheers
