Went ahead and bought the LG 47LK530 at Makro for R5999 at the weekend. Only 2 sets left in the store.
The set has hundreds of settings. The presets (ie movie,sports) is very helpful as is the picture wizard. I still have to see the difference in setting trumotion off,medium,high etc. The quick aspect ratio settings is also very useful. There are lots of others settings I have no idea of what they should be.
I will appreciate a link to optimal settings if someone has them.
1. SDTV through co-ax.
Will be installing my HD PVR this weekend and connect via HDMI, but for now I am viewing through co-ax DSD 990 decoder. I am not sure of all the technical terms, but I am picking up artefacts (blocks) on most channels, some more than others. Its not severe, but definitely visible. I guess connecting HDMI and even RCA cables will relieve this somewhat, even on SD?
2. USB Port
No problems so far playing my xvid avi's directly from verbatim memory stick. Some sound syncing issues, though it could be the avi copy. I still have to check.
3. Wii
Kids enjoy playing games on BIG screen. No HD benefits here.
Basically I yet have no way to view HD content. Will buy a blueray player as soon as money permits, and will activate PVR this weekend.
