I bought the LG 47LW4500 3D TV over the weekend with the Toshiba BDX5200 3d Blu Ray Player and The Smurfs 2D/3D Blu ray.

When I try to play the movie in 3D I get the following error:

To watch this movie in Blu-ray 3D, you will need a 3D-capable television as well as a 3D-capable Blu-ray player

Which I both have. It then takes me back to the menu and I can only play the movie in 2D.

Any ideas or suggestions why this is happening?

My Blu Ray and Television is set to 3D. I use HDMI connections.

Thanks.

Is your HDMI cable the 1.4 spec?

That shouldn't be necessary, I have the same TV connected to my PS3 with an HDMI 1.3 cable and I have no problems.
The TV detects when there's a 3D signal coming through and pops up the warning message about health and taking regular breaks due to 3D

Found the problem. My AV receiver does not pass through 3D signals. Looking at a HDMI splitter now that supports 3D or a new AV receiver.

Good reason not to get 3D, when I sit down to watch TV, I don't want to have to get up again

You get the same health risk warnings on Xbox, PS3,etc. Is that also a good reason then not to buy any of them?
Just my 2cents.

The TV also works in 2D if you need it to.
And its just like the health warning that everyone disregards for videogames :p

on the ps3, you connect to 3d tv and it picks it up ... maybe there is some setup needed on ur BR player.

PS3? Don't think OP mentioned one.
I dont think the PS3 part is important, but rather the process.

On initial connection, a HDMI handshake needs to occur by which the Bluray player discovers its connected to a 3D capable output device. If this does not occur properly, the Bluray player will stay in fallback 2D mode, never sending 3D to the TV.
