Hi All

I am thinking of getting a 60 inch LG 3D LED HDTV (60LA6210) from Dion Wired.

What are your opinions on the quality (both picture and manufacturing) of this set? Usage will be 50/50 between television and Blu-ray, and viewing distance around 4.5m.

It is a big chunk of money to fork out, so I need to be sure before making the commitment.

Many thanks!

Jeez to be honest I dont think you can go wrong, I am still very much a fan of LED tv's.
I know the main thing is light, if its dark, they say go Plasma but I also see the plasmas have bad reflections, correct me if I am, wrong PP?
As for the set, wow is all I can say. Imagine 3D porn on that size tv

I bought one a while ago I was not too impressed with the large amount of backlight bleeding and it's motion handling.
I returned it and got the Sony 55w904a instead. It may be 5" smaller, but the quality is way way better. If you definitely want 60" and passive 3d, take a look at the Sony 60r550 as well.

What he said, and their after sales sucks. They told me the backlight bleed across a quarter of a 30k tv is normal. Had to force store to give a refund and took a more expensive Samsung...

LG may be more affordable, but always go for a Samsung or Sony. believe me the difference is noticeable by a 7 year old

Cheaper Plasma's don't have anti-glare/anti-reflective coatings and therefore require particular lighting to be used during daylight.

More expensive ones don't have this problem and are as good as any LCD TV.

I wouldn't bother with plasma if you're willing to spend R25k on a TV and want 60". Sure, FHD plasmas like a Samsung PS60F5500 are good value for money, but it's not very bright, it's very reflective and panning scenes and motion don't look great because of the refresh rate. I owned 2 FHD plasmas (D550 and E550) before switching to a ES7500 with micro dimming and 240 Hz and the picture quality is chalk and cheese. But I do watch quite a bit of Blu Ray stuff. If you don't you won't notice the difference as much.

The entry level Samsung 60" is available for just under R20K but I would rather own a better quality 55" like the F6800 which is around R17-18K. I'm not a fan of LG's passive 3D but I do reckon this 60LA6210 LED is very good value. My buddy has one and I have watched quite a few HD rugby games on it and for that it is brilliant. His doesn't have ghosting issues, but I can't comment on FHD blu ray quality.

Many thanks all.

It sounds like the backlight bleeding is quite bad with this one?

Or perhaps buy the outgoing 64" 8 Series plasma which usually comes down to around R25k. No LCD will compete. ;)
