LG Fantasy 19" screen

dude if your going to go lcd get a 22"

if you dont have the money get this monitor

lcd's will amaze you, crt looks crap after you've owned one

I would have to agree. My 20" seems like twice as big as my old 17" CRT and surprisingly a LOT bigger than 19" LCDs.

My advice would also to be to save up for a 22". They are almost standard nowadays. Soon, it will be 24" I should imagine.

thanks for the advice guys.

i'm worried about dead pixels, that's the only thing stopping me from switching.

also, doesn't the 22" samsung have backlight bleed and bad reflections from the glossy coating?

I dunno man. I have not had the dead pixel issue at all so far and have only heard good things about that Samsung. If the gloss bothers you, there are plenty of options out there with normal TFT-type screens that don't have that problem.

Edit:

I have this 20" here from Prophecy and it has been just awesome.

I see now that you can get the 22" version from them for like 200 bucks more. It's a steal IMO.

ok and last thing, what about the panel lottery re. the samsung 22" 's?

can I get an S panel anywhere in SA now and are the A and C panels really that bad?

what monitor are you using hj2k_x? what do you think of the acer 22" widescreen?

cheers.

no dude get the 2232gw

i have never in my life seen an lcd with dead pixels lol and i have seen alot of lcd's

the gloss on the samsung is not a problem at all, i dont see any reflections once the monitor is on

every 22" lcd monitor has backlight bleed

yes my samsung 2232gw does have backlight bleed but nothing massive or bad, i dont even notice it

i dunno but i'll say the samsung 2232gw is by the far the best 22" inch on the market considering its price

Check the post above for the monitor I have.

Have not head anything about the Acer range of monitors, nothing bad either though. The prices are certainly attractive, but if I had just under 3k to spend on a monitor, it would be the 22" LG that I linked to above that I would get.

How much was your 2232GW out of interest and where did you get it?

ok cool thanks:)

looks like i'll be getting the 22" then. do you have the S panel?

should I wait for prices to drop or just buy one now? i don't mind buying 2nd hand either if anyone's willing to sell me theirs.

thanks for the advice;)

2299 ex vat from sahara

the 2232gw does not have panel issues that im aware of

i dont forsee the pricing of these monitors going down to be honest, i think the pricing is pretty darn good as is

if you a bit cash strapped get the acer 22" or go with that 19" monitor

you cannot go wrong with an lcd

u save space they are better for environment

Why do people quote EX VAT prices !? How do you get round paying vat !? It seems just so mis-representative, ..and pointless.

I also hate it. If you make the purchase though a company account, then the company can claim the VAT back from SARS, so you only have to actually pay the ex VAT price.

For the average Joe on the street , it is totally useless, though.

I work on an Acer AL2216W at work. Utter shyte. I have a Samsung 17" at home that has nice picture but terrible tearing problems. I still love my 24" DELL most.

ummm i bought it through my company

hense why i pad 2299

its actually not pointless mrE, if you have a company and buy pc parts claim the money back

believe this or not mrE plenty ppl own companies

also for the ppl who dont, they can always take a calculator and go 2299 * 1.14 = 2620.86

2299 ex vat for ppl with companies 2620.86 for ppl who cannot claim back :)

phew im dripping with sweat from that calculation

here we go again...
