Go to Settings.
Under "Wireless Networks", select "More".
Select "Mobile networks".
Select "Network mode".
Select the second option from the top i.e. "GSM/WCDMA auto".
The phone will no longer switch to LTE.

Thanks.

If you want, try this.

dial *#*#4636#*#*

Then see if there is a option to enable volte IMS

Have you tried that? PM me your number and I will see if Volte is on your number

Give me her number and let me see if Volte is active on her line. If it is not, then the phone will not be able to register on it.

Ok, Volte IMS activated. Give it 30 minutes and reboot. Then she does the same *#*#4636#*#* procedure unless the Volte option comes up automatically in her network call settings after the reboot....but give it 30 minutes or so first.

To enable LTE again just follow my previous instructions but select the first option: "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" instead of the second.

Not working:

She put the phone back to 4g then rebooted.

When she does *#*#4636#*#*

She gets the following menu options:

Phone information
Battery information
Usage statistics
WiFi information

Of those only Battery Information and Usage statistics work.

When she tries to press Phone information she gets the following error:
Note. This application does not work on this device.

When she tries to press Wifi Information it crashes and she ends up back at the phone dialler keypad.

Mmm maybe Vodacom have asked that LG disable it on the ROM untill such time that Vodacom allows Volte for LG.

Just an update. Friday evening (19/2/2016) Marshmallow became available and I installed it. It seems the G4 now switches much faster to 3G when it gets an incoming call while on 4G. So my phone is now on 4G and I don't seem to be missing incoming calls and SMS's.

I wonder if Marshmallow by any chance enabled Volte? Are you contract or prepaid?

Contract. I think Volte may be model or carrier specific. I still can't find the option in any menus.

I wonder if this is my issue.

When I got my G4 I switched to a topup contract so I assume that I am prepaid now ?

Since the switchover I cant get LTE and my CLI is disabled !
I have phoned twice about this now, both times they say that they are enabling CLI and putting me on the LTE profile.

Its drivnig me nuts !
