LG G4 will begin getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow next week

LG will begin updating the G4 smartphone to Android 6.0 Marshmallow next week. The Korean manufacturer announced the rollout of the latest Android build to its flagship handset in an official press release.

Just like the LG G3 a year ago, the G4 will first receive the new firmware in Poland. More markets in Europe, Asia, and the Americas will follow soon thereafter.

The tech giant has worked closely with Google to make the update a reality. The update should hardly catch anyone by surprise, as the G4 packs the same chipset as the recently launched Nexus 5X by LG.

Aside from the common improvements we saw announced at Google IO, LG is also adding its own list of improvements. These include the following.

- Permissions have been simplified with greater control of the information applications can access, not only at the installation stage but any time.
- Silent feature for sound and vibrate mode as well as a Do Not Disturb mode to block all sounds or only alarms and notifications.
- Doze Mode which shuts down background processing of certain apps when the phone is not in use, to significantly prolong battery life.

was it last week people were saying the G$ will be ages behind the new nexus?

this makes it pretty clear that it is better to have a G4 then it is to own the small nexus.

great news for us. wonder how long it will take LGSA to roll out. I believe the g3 rolled out first week in December here, still miles ahead of the competition.
 
I only have a smallish data contract (phone and home router)
I wonder how big that update will be? Can one go and do it at a Telkom WiFi spot?
