LG G4

I left my g4 charging over a weekend when I was away and for some reason the screen was on the whole weekend. I now have a battery charging burnin on my screen...
My battery is also pretty done probably due to all the quick charging and the age.

New screen+frame assembly is R280 aliexpress and a battery is like R80.

I think the G4 has passed the point of replacing genuine part as the value is just too low and new genuine parts are still expensive.


As far as I know screen burn in can't be fixed you need to replace the screen.

Comparing the price I stll think the G4 is a decent phone actually. R850 gives you a device with a qhd screen, qc 2.0 and 3gb RAM. Pretty happy with my G4 still.

Yeah, I'm gonna keep mine and probably get a Xiaomi 4X or 5 becaue of the battery life. If it wasn't for the battery life, heating issues, bootloop, burn in and back button issues, it is a great phone.

I got a new button. Just need to install it. With double tap I very seldom use it anyways except when I want to change volume during a call. My screen burn in fortunately goes away after a while. Just irritating. Will see if I can find an original or good quality battery. Camera is not too bad for the phones age and still better than some newer/ cheaper midrange phones.

Battery however is a big issue. Doesn't help you have a great phone, but can't spend a day away from a charger and it will die.

Oh, I forgot to say that flip screen doesn't work so well anymore. Have to give it a tap before it reponds.

PS. If you ever see me putting a G4 up for sale, it is not this one I'm talking about.

My G4's battery doesn't last a day anymore and get burn in with the screen. Should probably get a new battery, but what can I do regarding the burn besides replacing the screen (which is not gonna happen)?

My G4 didn't last a day already last year, the burn in I started noticing that recently, but if I run something with a white background it clears it.

I did start start to fall in love with my G4 after I manage to get it updated. Although dstv does not work the os feels snappy and it really performs well on very hardware intensive games like real racing, vainglory and mobile legends I can play on max graphics settings.

Phone gets really hot but I want to replace the cpu paste and see if it will help with the heat issue.

Haha okay but the G4 is still pretty decent compared to other devices in it's class. I have a S8 which is better spec wise but still get drawn back to my G4.

It's a refurbished unit and goes for ~R1100. Looking at the H818 DS is the Dual sim version of the G4 that actually supports all network LTE in SA.

The H811 US version is much cheaper but it only supports band 3 LTE so it should work on all network in SA but will exclude a few like Band 40 Telkom and Band 1 MTN,Vodacom and Cellc so the dual sim version for a bit more is a better option.

Really love LG phones so much get the G3, G5 and G6 too.

Nope. I won't get LG again. G2 was my favourite one. G4 will be the last one. I'm over the hype of 'high spec' phones and just want something with 2 days plus battery life.

Power banks, quick charge home and car plugs is the future unfortunately.

The Xiaomi Note 4 can push 2 days, some of the Doogee with 5000 to 10000 mah batteries can go awhile .

Guys, I've tried to google it, but my G4 not being rooted, I haven't found a way to get this done.

I'm running out of storage on my internal memory and it seems like WhatsApp is one of the big culprits.....
I've moved my 'media' to the SD card, but when I want to look at media in WhatsApp, it wants to download it again, so is not seeing my media on the SD card.
Is their a way to get this done without rooting?

How much is my G4 worth if I want to sell it?

Gonna get a new OEM battery. Screen has temporary burn/ghosting that comes and go. Back Buttons not working so well but I might get that fixed (I have the buttons, I just need to install it.)
