Brought to us by the people who make fridges, microwaves and televisions. But they certainly wow me with this. Easily puts itself into my top 3.

Those leather back are super sexy. I think i just found a replacement for my aging Nexus 5.

I find it quite funny that my OnePlus One is still one of the best phones out there. 64GB storage, 3GB RAM, 3100mAh battery, Snapdragon 801, 5.5" 1080p display, front design nearly identical to the LG G4 etc. And for $349.

One of the best purchases I've ever made. Although I'm surprised that phones aren't really going anywhere atm.

There are some similarities sure. But it's SD 808 with a curved Qhd screen with a remarkable camera for starters and these are just initial takes on it.

Smartphones have plateaued recently but out of all of them I would say LG is one of the few that stand out by trying to be different.

I was wondering if it was worth waiting for my upgrade for this rather than getting a s6 or a note 4 (or even just the G3)

and now I am pretty sure.
all we need now is for LG to tell us that SA is on the first release shedule and we will get it by the end of next month.

The battery life is better with a 1080p display, which still looks great on a tiny 5.5" display anyway. MicroSD storage stuffs performance, so I don't understand why LG didn't have larger internal storage options and just do away with it like Samsung has started to.

I was hoping for 4000+mAh batteries by now, and 64GB minimum storage capacities.

But the removable back and SD Card is what I'm looking for. It's one of the few phones that still have it. I don't really mind their drawbacks cos I use them a lot.

As for battery life I'm hoping that the optimization they were talking about with the SD 808 helps with that and wasn't just PR. I think all the companies are hesitant to add more mAh because of the thickness it adds. Only thing I'm not liking about this phone is it lacks fast charge and wireless charging. But it's all ok cos you can still swop one battery out for another...

I'm saying that improved batteries shouldn't come with the expense of added thickness, otherwise nothing has been advanced. We've had thick high capacity batteries for years already.

However good the new processors might be with the current batch of high res displays, I'd prefer to see how well they do with 1080p displays. Ultra high pixel density is nice, but not as nice as ultra high battery life.

Why would you care about external storage if the internal storage was a large amount?

Yeah I'd also take 1080p plus battery over Qhd normally but with my rooting and custom rom tricks I can still pull 4-5 hours screen on time with this package I feel.

The Motorola Droid Turbo is the only phone with a big battery at 3900mAh and was pretty thick. Even that I wouldn't mind really.

The SD cards is just for convenience for swopping between devices. But the main thing is having the removable back for when the battery packs up. I've had phones were the battery actually got swollen and the back cover didn't fit anymore. If that happens with an S6 it's going to be a problem.

Yeah, still great value. Although I've been very disappointed with the camera. It's just not very good.

I use the camera for taking images very seldom so that doesn't bother me. The few pics I've taken were sufficient quality for my needs. I record video more often though, and the quality is really great. It might help if you use third party camera apps.

Saw Snapdragon 808 and was put off. The GPU in that thing (Adreno 418) is weaker than the GPU in the Note 4 and Nexus 6 Snapdragon 805 (Adreno 420) and far weaker than what is in the Snapdragon 810.

I don't expect much in terms of great quality video recording, it will probably have a hard time with certain games, and having to push a QHD Display with such a weak GPU, my hopes for it are low in how it will be in the long run. Rather get a M9 or S6 Edge, heck even the rumoured Xperia Z3+.

Or just wait for the Note 5.

Indeed, that's what I'm doing. These early 2015 flagships don't seem to hold a candle to what I have already, feel like I would be downgrading.

I am looking to open a 2nd contract at some point this year and thought we would be in for a treat but nah, they are all average at best.
