So I was due to upgrade my MTN contract a month back. Did my usual research and for my price range (up to R300 pm) I found the LG K61 by far the best value for money if you wanted full android. I have called all the MTN stores in the area and the online store and for over a month now they never have stock of that phone.

Out of curiosity I have now checked Vodacom and they also do not have stock, implying it is a supplier issue.

Anyone know anything about this or if and when MTN will ever get stock? Seems stupid to advertise something you cannot deliver on. Not sure I am willing to wait much longer but at the same time the Samsung alternative just seems to have a lot less value for money.

All the LG's I considered was out of stock. As well as all other brands except Samsung, Apple and Huawei.. So pick any of the three. :(

In addition to that, I found that I had to up the budget to get a phone that was actually better than the one it was replacing. Which is super frustrating - tech has moved on, but I need to pay more to get something better? How does that work? :( Keeping the old one wasn't an option as two years of abuse shows....

After a full month of waiting for MTN to get back to me I kinda gave up and decided to just order the Samsung. When I called though last week as a last ditch chance I checked once again and they actually had stock. Have had the phone almost a week now and am very happy with the purchase. LG might becomes my new brand.

One oddity is that there are a bunch of Samsung apps installed? Is LG and Samsung somehow the same company now or something?
