Looking to upgrade my C1 this year.

I am considering going all out with the G6 but I think the C6 (non H) will be fine for me. But I just might be able to go for the flagship.

I haven't been paying attention to the launch windows, is there someone here more in the know?

I think the C series launches at 26,999 and then drops to 22,999 nearing the end of it's production run.

A bit more than what I paid for in 2021 but considering how happy I am still with my set I think the price increase is not a majour blow. I'm not sure what the November pricing looks like either, could be even lower than 22,999.

Does anyone have better understanding of what to expect and when to expect the local launch?

Is the current TV broken? If not why get a new one?

Still gonna use it somewhere in the house.

Actually been thinking about using it for a sim station. Either for Racing or Flight sim.

But the upgrade for brightness really. I love HDR.

Aaah HDR :-) look at micro LED tvs for that then.

55 inches in a lounge in 2026

Historically this tends to happen around June.

Usually see the specials on the old line come in during July.

Lol! Yeah I have my 55 inch in my bedroom and that's where I game.

The lounge has a 85" Skyworth.

The LG G5 is currently @50k for the 65" which I was considering but a bit irresponsible for me to spend that right now.

Too much anyway.

They've been as low as R36k at times over the past year.

The C5 only just recently came on takealot and Amazon. They are really far behind. I am in the same boat with my C1 and have been eyeing the C4 65 inch @ R27k for some time on takealot if that can maybe work for you?

Wow is that for the 55"?

Pretty much would be the kinda deal I would be looking for.

Do you remember what year and period? I been looking for the past few months and I haven't seen these prices budge.

There is a store called digitalexperience or whatever that has decently lower prices but nothing I can find that gives confidence for the store. So I'm going to avoid entirely.

Takealot has been so bad, far cry from 2021 when I bought my C1. I had options.

Hirschs has the 55 for 23k for the C5. 1200 nits peak on a 10 percent which is an okay bump from my 800,

Think maybe I would choose the 55 over c4 65" cause I understand it to be pretty much what the G2 was offering.

Digital experience = Catsdigital.

Very well known and perfectly reliable.

It was for the 65-inch somewhere during the last year, only reason I didn’t jump is because I want a 77.

Not 100% sure it was the G5, but just one of last years panels as they are all the same it doesn’t matter.

Also worth keeping an eye on Masons.co.za

Go add them to servaltracker.com and you’ll get price history and notifications.

Sorry for the bumper -

See Digital Experience have it listed for 40k.

Think I'll take the jump on it.

So you say Digi Exp/Catsdigital are reliable? Will trust you :p

The price of the G-series here is heavily inflated and not worth it IMO. In the US and Europe the price of the G-series makes it a more attractive option, especially the outgoing years' models.

The C-series will be fine, especially the newer ones. I've got a 77" C4 upstairs, it's brilliant. Also bought a 65" B4 during one of the black Rriday weeks a couple years ago for R20k, that was such a bargain and it's an amazing set too.

How’s the brightness on these current sets? I’m torn between mini LED and OLED. Or even the new Hisense RGB LED when it finally arrives.

A non-issue for quite a few years now. Unless you live on the sun you may still want to get one of those ultra bright LCDs.

I think I would agree but honestly I'm rather disappointed by the spec v spec between the C5/C6 compared to my C1.

My C1 for example, bought discounted at 20k 2021. 800 nits on a 10% window. 120hz.

C5, 1300 on a 10%, 144hz. 2k more on discount.

500 nits difference is nothing to scoff at don't get me wrong but 4-5 year gap is pretty substantial and I would've hoped that it would be at least double the C1.

Now compare vs G5. Size increase, 55->65, 2300-2500nits (hard to get an exact number?) and a 165hz.

Not really interested in the added hz because trade off is not good vs 120hz mode but listed it anyway.

Well my point rather is that I'm paying double what I paid for the 55 C1 sure, but comparing it to buying a 55 C5 now and then another 55 CX down the line it works to the same, if not more and you're not guaranteed the same levels of brightness as the G5 now as the tandem panels might only be reserved for 77 C series and any size G series.

I'm not going to say you shouldn't get it, if you have the money and want the best then I support that. I just feel the additional premium is not at all worth it especially if your space already has any decent light control.

I still have a B7 (2017 model) kicking around here too, has a permanent Youtube logo burnt into the top right corner  Yes, we watch too much Youtube.

For sure dude!

I think it just comes down to what you wanna do with it? I imagine for most the B series will be more than enough to cater for their needs. Oled is oled and the contrast levels alone make it a superior choice over mini LED.

For me personally I love HDR in gaming and movies. It's been my most transformative experience these past few years vs my previous nanocell.

Lots of games on the horizon (pun intended) that I would love to get the most out of.

Without getting philosophical, who knows how long we got left? Enjoy what you want if you can and when you can you know.

Have a look on Masons and compare often pricing is similar.
