LG Optimus Black (P970) speaker problem?

I got one of these two days ago and as I've mentioned elsewhere I've been impressed by the phone so far. I haven't received many calls but one thing I have noticed is that the calls seem slightly faint and a little tinny/scratchy as well? Even with the volume turned up. Anyone else experience this or do I possibly have a dud speaker in my phone?

My calls are loud enough but if set the volume above mid-volume is becomes scratchy as you described, almost as if there is something vibrating. Did you ever pursue this issue further?

Otherwise, I am impressed with this phone.
