Hi guys. Just curious as to whether anyone else may have had a similar problem to mine ...

I have an LG 50PW350 3D Plasma, which I bought in March last year. Turned it off at approx. 11pm last night, and tried switching on at about 7am today and it refuses to turn on. I've got power, in that it will attempt to turn on when I hit the power button, but it immediately switches off. I've disconnected everything that's connected to it, USB drive and all HDMI connections etc. but still no go. I pulled the power plug off for about 30mins, and then tried again. This time it turned on, but switched off after about 5mins or so. Really weird. Any ideas as to what the problem might be ? I'm guessing it has something to do with the power supply, but I'd rather get some opinions before finding someone to send it in for repairs.

P.S - It's out of warranty. Called LG and they informed me the 2 year warranty only started in June last year for their products, which puts my set outside of that window :(

Its your power supply. Had the same with my LG. Do you live near the beach by any chance?

Yes a little too close, actually. Will it need replacement, or can it be serviced ?

Here is your problem>>>LG

Can't argue. It's the only LG product I own. Bought it because it went for R5500. 50" 3D Plasma from a big brand company. What could go wrong, right ? Lesson learnt though. From now on, my money is gonna go to companies that aren't afraid to back up their products with long term guarantees.

Nothing wrong with living close to the sea but its hell on anything metallic. Beach is 20 meters from my window :-)

Got mine replaced, the service partner came home and replaced it. Also out of warranty.

Looks like my set has a few blown caps that need replacing, so I'll have to send it in. To be honest, my first ever plasma was a 42" Logik, and that never gave me a day's problem. Sold it to a friend of mine, and it's still working perfectly, 6 years later. Makes me wonder if it's really worth shelling out for the big brands. This LG TV went 15 months and effectively died overnight. My next purchase will definitely be with a manufacturer that can offer a long term guarantee on their product. HiSense looks good. Will probably look at selling my set once it's repaired and go that route.

The good news is that I got a hold of a manager at Game, where I bought the TV from, and he's helped with trying to get things sorted. Basically, he informed LG that although the TV is out of warranty, it doesn't bode well that their product broke so quickly. LG has agreed to repair it for me at no cost :)

That's as good a reason as any to deal with Game I suppose.
