It's a good point re the light settings. I'll be sure to play around with it on my brother's set.
Also, for me the SD content handling is going to be the big one, as I don't care how thin a LED is, if it looks crap playing SD, I don't want it.

If it's too big just get 42". They are about R6,000 now (for the C450) which is about a R800 price drop since a few months ago.

What's your viewing distance/distance from wall to farthest couch?

Still have to decide on amp & speakers :S
Leaning towards the Yamaha RX-V467. Only bummer is that it doesn't have on-screen menus...

In combination with the Jamo's? :)

Pfft, once you've sat in front of your receiver and set everything up, how often will you ever need to change settings? If you do, just go closer. Pedantic nit-picker. :p :D

Good point actually, with those Scene presets, there shouldn't be much need for menu-hopping (I hope!)
Don't know about the Jamo's. I had a look at that special you linked, but I'm gonna go for a 2.1 setup for now; our flat's too small! I'll have to go listen to some different speakers over the weekend.. Paradigms (dunno where tho), Jamos, etc

Can't go wrong with 2.1. I mean with all these Dolby pre-sets you are getting virtual surround sound from 2.1 speakers. You might never even need to add more speakers. :p
 
Agreed. The OSD's is a nice to have but you can still set the settings without it.

And as mentioned, one's everything is setup, you shouldn't change it again.

Yeah that's why I'm asking.

Try these, best I've found after fiddling:

AMP Menu

1. LEVEL
TONE: TONE N
BALANCE: FRT = BALANCE
BALANCE + LVLS = all on 0
SW: -10 (sub woofer, set very low due to being in complex. You need to put this up if you're in a big store)

2. TONE
BASS LVL: -6 (put this up in the store)
TREBLE: 0 (might need to go up in store as well)

3. SUR
SF Select: MULTI ST (probably most important setting I found)

5. AUDIO
DUAL: DUAL S

7. SYSTEM
SW: YES
FRT: LARGE
CNR: LARGE
SUR: LARGE
DISTANCE: all 3.0
SUR POSITION: SIDE/HI

Incredible difference it makes. Whyyy is it so good? :D

Just imagine it was set to that in stores. Doubt people here would diss it as much.
 
Yip. After fiddling a bit came to the same conclusion as you.

It makes a huge difference. Its also nice that if the source changes to Dolby or what ever, it will process that as Dolby.
