2 operational beams!

Day Short summary Link to report from 8:30 meeting
Sunday 6th December

00:00-02:30: Four bunch setup.
a) 1.5e10 p in beam1 in 4 bunches. Fully protected machine. 25h beam lifetime. Correctly dumped.
b) At 01:32: Two beams with each 4 bunches stored. B1: 1.4e10. B2: 1.5e10.
c) Dump tests show normal loss patterns both for bunched and unbunched beams.
02:30-xx:xx: Injecting for stable beams.

Finally successful around 6:30 after resolving a lifetime problem with beam 2. 4 on 4 circulating and colliding with reasonable lifetime for both beams.

Eish.. that she is ALOT of power....

Awesome to see the LHC is ramping up nicely...
And then some more :D

Quote from the news page:

On Tuesday evening, December 8th, 2009, the LHC achieved for the first time 2.36 TeV collisions and ATLAS recorded their first events at this record energy.

LOL, We can still hope.

Anyway, I'm typing this here because I'm to lazy to make a new thread. Merry Christmas to you all and a happy new year. I'm about to leave work, head home, finish packing and then I am flying out to Geneva. I should hopefully be at CERN tomorrow afternoon :)

Lucky bastard - safe travels and keep us posted (lol, see what I did there?) :D

Here safe, Just had lunch at R1 with Claire at CERN.

There are a few Nobel Prize Laureate's sitting around here and I feel so out of place among all these really really smart people

I'm pretty tired though so going to try get some sleep. I'll upload some photo's later.

So Claire still hasn't gotten the results she needs? :(
It will be a while still for her to do that anyway even if they were running.

I must still get some photo's up. I Didn't take nearly as many as I wanted as I ran my battery down on the camera and forgot to charge it each morning on our way into CERN. Claire has a few though that I will steal. Would of been nice though to post some up of the "microcasm" <sp?> tunnels that I went into
