I've been using Openoffice for years and switched over to LibreOffice beginning of 2011 somewhere.
I'm forced to use Microsoft Office at work, currently 2010 professional. But I still prefer LibreOffice at home.

So far, and tell me if I'm wrong, I can do anything on LibreOffice, that can be done on MS Office. I think the main thing that put people of is the fact that it doesn't look like MS Office. Some people like the eye candy.
For me, looks is nothing, so long as it can do its job.
And its doing just that. Even better.

And best of all, its free.

MS Excel is still way ahead of its OpenOffice/LibreOffice counterpart. If you have ever tried creating complex Pivot tables with OpenOffice you'll know what I mean.

Haven't tried LibreOffice but the Powerpoint equivalent that OpenOffice uses left a LOT to be desired.

It's fine for most casual users but in the end it will eventually get there.

LibreOffice 3.6 is out. Support for Visio, import of Corel draw, etc, etc.
They're just getting better and better. Awesome piece of productivity suite. Ever since their 3.5 release in February, everything feels stable and great to use.

IMHO, MS office suite is greatest thing MS has ever produced: Excel, PowerPoint and Access are gems. Pure refinement and mature Office productivity suite.

LO is sufficient for casual use and if you know tech stuff, it works fine.
