Libya orders OLPC child laptops for all their kids

The government of Libya reached an agreement on Tuesday with One Laptop Per Child, a nonprofit United States group developing an inexpensive, educational laptop computer, with the goal of supplying machines to all 1.2 million Libyan schoolchildren by June 2008.

Maybe our GVT can learn out of this. Broadband with the laptop would be a great addition tho. But we are in Southern Africa not Libya and prolly have how many millions of school children?

Minister of coms opened a Telecoms BUS/Truck with Internet a few days ago on morning live. Vuyo Mbulii asked her why the Internet or the uptake of this technology is so slow. Her comments... oh my word...her comments! "The young ones have to learn first, then they can teach the old folk, then only once they have the knowledge can they (THE GVT?) speed up the uptake of technology but the technology changes so fast that's why the uptake is so slow!" or something in that lines. I was too shocked to remember it all! My computer was also down! Maybe someone can suss out that interview!
