Hello,

Is there anyone here who knows where one can get hold of License Plate Recognition Cameras or software?

If you give me till Monday when I'm back at the office, I can sort you with all the information you could want as I work for a company that does a fair amount of systems that incorporates license plate recognition. What purpose did you have in mind?

Just send me a PM.

Well this software will need to be incorporated with an IP camera to automatically scan license plates without me having to feed the applications photos myself.

Thanks for your replies!

There was a article about Waterkloof glen/constantia park community putting up such 8 such cameras in partnership with ADT in a newspaper article I read somewhere. Maybe you can contact ADT to get an idea of who to contact...

For optimal results you'd need to use an AI system that was trained for that specific problem set. Ideally with the training set taking in identical circumstance to where the camera will eventually be used.

This btw is also why the gov is pushing to standardize the plates across ZA. All these funky different plates for each province just confuse the AI.

I'd PM messugga because these systems usually cost $$$ & it sounds like he might have a solution for you that doesn't cost you an arm & leg.

It's all relative hey. We deal with pretty large setups normally and when you have a R50+mil budget, it's easy to throw a bit of funding around. For situations like these, the guys we outsource small setups to charge around R30k a pop. They're industrial/military grade components normally, so they're never going to be cheap, but even cheaper stuff will cost a fair amount.

30k....bit more hectic than expected tbh. I'm guessing that is mostly hardware costs though?

OT: Does your company by any chance have an office next to the N1 with an in-house demo system aimed at the cars going past?

Google "Geovision Intelligent License Plate Recognition System"

Lots of companies in SA sell/install it.

You going to need a decent IP camera which will set you back about R8k for one worth using... You will then also need the LPR (License Plate Recognition) Software which with my supplier is charged per lane @ around R12k per lane license... For us to setup a 1 Lane LPR system, it costs us about R23k at cost...

The LPR distributor that we use also has a database that is loaded into the Software, so if a car is registered as stolen, the camera immediately alerts the user of the Number Plate, vehicle make, model etc etc and the alerts can be distributed in various different ways n means...

I'm looking for an alpr system (software included) for application in recovery of vehicles for which the court has issued an order for the return of the vehicle to a finance house. I'm a dummy with this and I'm looking for some guidance.
