Licensed disc for second-hand vehicle

I got a second-hand vehicle recently. But I got confused about the disc situation. Dealer has a renewed disc that's from Jan. But I thought they need to get a new disc ones vehicle is registered under my name ? I don't want to have issues when I need to renew it next year. My understanding is that they renewed the disc under their ownership. So wouldn't it need a new licensed disc under my name?

You won't have problems if it's on your name.

Also, you can renew from 60 days before it expires.

As long as there is a license disc that is not expired it doesn't matter.
The car should be registered in your name and the renewal disc will indicate on the forms the disc comes with that it's in your name. Your name doesn't appear on the disc.

Update so they gave me a disc that was done under their now and clalede back to fetch the new disc with my name on the doc and new disc. So all sorted thanks.
