LIFEPO4 Battery discussion thread

Was thinking of getting one of these small 12v solar inverters for my 12v cheapig battery. Run some lights, gate motor and electric fence

They go for about R1800 brand new.

You are giving me dumb ideas now. I have always wanted to connect my pool to its own system. I panel, 1 LFP battery, 1 DB, I little inverter like this. I have a LAPA next to the pool and the electrics are all under the LAPA. I just never did it as it would cost about 5k in total to do.

Let it manage itself. Set SOC cut off at 20%. Never have to manage and turn the pump on or of EVER.
 
How many kWh is your AI battery?
Its working off 1 battery but I see where you are going with this lol. I will be in trouble coz I have only 1 battery. Cavedog will be fine with 4 batteries as the load is shared between them so 46 can work. I would need to stick to 49. 48 being the lowest I can go.

That is what I'm thinking. It has AC input also so it can be grid tied if needs be which is pretty cool. Just not sure how good/long it will last. Everything is made in China anyways so yeah.

What is the point of this? Isn't the pool connected to AC offgrid inverter already?

For the price probably take your chances. I dont know much about HZ solar. There is also the one below and they have a longer track record. It is an extra 600 bucks though.

I was actually looking at that one because I wanted to build my own inverter trolley actually but then I was like what is the point. Let me just move all the money I want to spend on this to get more panels installed.

Think about it.

If it is standalone, you don't have to worry about switching it on and off, as it is supplying a non-critical load. It can run itself down to 80% and switch off until the clouds disappear and the sun comes back, at which point it charges off its own panel.

Running down your own battery to run the pool or electric fence, etc., when the power should be used for your own home consumption, not a pool for example.
 
I pay for AI and use the deeper thinking models. It's way more accurate and better than the generic Google one.

I built an app with it for my personal work and use it for grid automation at work, etc. It's the real deal lol.
Ask your AI that if your battery takes an hour to go from 100% to 0%, how long will 46V-40V take.

It draws 15W i think. I dont know if he will supply his pool. I want one to do that. Pool is a pain the arse when very cloudy.

Besides, for the 10 days a year it goes down, what are the chances you get robbed lol.

And there is a saying, if a thief wants to rob you they will. No gate or burglar bar or electric fence will save you. Its decoration as far as i am concerned.
 
My calculations weren't with a resting battery at 46V.
If you are draining say 500W for your baseload overnight and the battery is quite drained already but not enough for the 500W load to hit the 46, throw in a geyser heating timer with a 3kW element and you will be close enough to being at a resting 46V being nailed with a big load.
