LifePo4 Discharge Rate

Just using hairdryer as an example, but lots of women have 3000W+ hairdryers. Kettles and microwaves are the other main problem always.
Most of which are only on for short periods and should be okay with 1C rated batteries (assuming you remain under 1C).
 
So does that mean one can use 1x 1C (4.8kwH) battery with a 5Kw inverter and plug in the hairdryer + Fridge+ Freezer and the battery would be able to handle it?


"maximum discharge rate of 100A" all datasheets I can find the maximum is not recommended. Its like saying my car's top speed is 220km/h. This doesn't mean I can drive 440km in 2 hours. Maximum time is like a minute or two I would guess. If someone has the lights,fridge,freezer,tv's etc connected and its running at 2500w and now its winter and they plug in a heater of 1800W for an hour, I am not sure if the batteries would be able to handle it?
Yes, you could use 4.8kW out of the inverters 5kW. Or you could get the Hubble AM-2 which is a 5.5kW and use all the inverters capacity. It's not advisable like its not advisable to drive your car around redlining in 1st gear, but you could do it.

2500W + 1800W = 4300W

4800/4300 = 1.11 hours runtime or the Hubble 5500/4300 = 1.28 hours

As you see, you don't want heavy draw appliances running off battery, unless you have R500k worth of batteries. I think a hairdryer is fine or a vacuum as is not on for a long time.

Obviously you should spec your system properly and if you have a high peak loads then rather get a 8kW inverter or 2 x 5kw and 2 x 1C batteries.

Depends on the size of your inverter. If you have a 8kW inverter, a 5kW 1C battery is not going to cut it, you would need 2.
