Lifestyle Sound System

I'm probably going to getting a smaller place in a few months - so planning already on downgrading a few things already. I haven't seen a specific place as yet - but they're all going to be half the size of where I am ... so down sizing is certain :/

Anyone know any lifestyle systems (BR, amp and 5.1) for about R15,000.00-R20,000.00?

hehehe... i would expect a lifestyle sound systems to be around R6k... hehehe.... R15,000.00-R20,000.00 is a serious sound system...

i would love to watch a movie from such a system or even play a few songs with the volume at 60%...

I mean small though - as space will be an issue Plus I won't be able to really use the speakers at even 60% volume.

I actually like those needle type speaker or tall thin floor standers.

Obviously I'm going to miss my speakers and will try anything to keep them - but just incase, I should plan

I also saw some Boston acoustic's with a yamaha av reciever somewhere thought it was the same place.

Found it not sure if this is what is considered lifestyle speakers they are small though.

I sold my reciever a few months ago already ... my DVD player a few months before that ... and my CD player a few months before that :'(

Am hoping not to sell the speakers if I can find a place with sufficient space (or a design where they won't look imposing) - but I like to know my options months before. On the hand, it is exciting getting newer items.

peculiar post. Downsizing your living space, but spending bucks on entertainment? Sounds ironic without the detail!

Anyway, I have heard the Boston 5.1 speakers and with a good amp (cant remember the one they were demo's with) the sound was unbelievable - those speakers are as small as it gets imo, and quite stylish too.

Markd - my current Elacs were fairly decent speakers a few years ago and with the used price now, I could purchase smaller lifestyle system now.

The Elac 5.1 setup that I have would cost around R65,000.00 a few years ago - but I only purchased the centre and mains. Chatted to the distributor yesterday and reckons I'll still get R20,000.00 second hand price for the front stage.

I do - however - feel it's slightly optimistic and would guess around R13,000.00. Even this is almost a direct trade on smaller 5.1 speakers now.

PS Property is a 2nd smaller, property. However being single and earning a decent rent on the 1st property (which I don't like anyhow) - I'm going to be staying in the smaller property for a few years - before I sell both, and purchase something larger.

At the same, rebuying my beloved Elacs as I'll have space

But for now - I need to sacrifice :/
