Hi guys (and gals)
My line was struck by lightning a couple of weeks back and I had to replace my modem. 2 of the ports on my router was fried as well.
I replaced my modem (Asus DSL12u) with a Belkin surf N150 as I couldn't find a Asus DSL modem again. I'm still using my router (Asus RT-N66U)
The problem I've been having intermittently is that the connection to my ISP (Web Africa) drops. This happens alot more than it did with the Asus DSL modem (not that I can recall it ever happening with the Asus modem). WA checked my settings and reset the port, I logged a ticket with Telkom and they say everything is fine as well. I used the Belkin modem without the Asus Router for a couple of days and the same thing happens so that eliminates the router as a problem from the equation.
My question is this, does anyone else have one of these Belkin Modems and experience the same problem? Any fixes patches? I already updated the firmware to latest version.
Could it be something else other than the modem? Meaning that when the lightning struck my line it "damaged" it in some way? Could Telkom move me to a different port?
Once I loose the connection, I have to reboot the modem and then it works fine again for awhile. Problem is doing this from 00:00 to 06:00 while I'm sleeping !!
Any info will be appreciated. If a question like this has been asked before I apologize for the duplicate post, but I couldn't find anything describing my problem.
Thanks.
Marlin
