Hi there,

Total Wireless network, all D-link Cards and DSL-G604T Router.

Last Sunday night lightning struck my PC's power supply (which I have replaced since) through my UPS as well as the power supply and some wiring of my router.

It seems to me that I have to replace my router. I have read some threads here and have noticed that Netgear comes highly recommended.

www.digitalplanet.co.za now has a special on this:

108 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router. Combine Modem, router, 4 port 10/100 switch, 802.11g access point, and SPI true firewall. (DG834GTUK)

for R1 235.00 (VAT Incl) and together with this you will also get a ...
WG511T - 108 Mbps Cardbus Adapter - plugs into the PCMCIA slot on your laptop

OR

WG111T - 108 Mbps USB Adapter - plugs into a desktop or laptop computer's ISB port

The bad thing about this is that they don't have stock at the moment and are expecting their stock somewhere next week.

Is it worth the waiting or is there some other place I can get a ADSL Router from for the same price.

I'm from Jo'burg.

Last Question ...
Will my current D-Liunk wireless network cards work with a Netgear Router?

Regards,

Deon

I actually ordered that router. Except last week when i ordered it, it was R200 more expensive for some reason. Got my free wireless card within 2 days, but now im waiting for them to get stock of the router.

I heard it is really good. My current router just died aswell. It just won't connect anymore, and when it does, as soon as I reboot it, it goes down for like 2 days.

OK, so you also think that Netgear is not bad.

When, did they tell you, will they have stock?

You can also check out the BIILLION 7100G on DigitalPlanet for R1033.

It's a wireless ADSL wireless modem/router with VPN, Firewall and 4-port switch.

They phoned me on Monday i think, after i ordered it and said they should get around the 3rd of may

I ordered the Billion 7100G from soholink.co.za for R999. It arrived within two days (after payment showed in their account) at Cape Town.

I have not set up the router yet as I'm still waiting for telkom to do the installation. According to the spec, it appears to be a great product. Once I have, I will do a post with my opinion of the router.

Hi,is this www.soholink.co.za in Cape Town? It seems quite fast 2 days to get your Billion 7100G. Some other online shops I bought from often take up to 7 days to deliver the goods, that seems people who are well organised. Well let us know if you are happy with the product. I read quite good reviews about that brand. I use the Netgear 834G here in our house and it works 100% since over a year. I can connect in the Office, Garden, Bedroom, living.. anywhere and our plot is around 2000m2. I recommend the Netgear, but will look at what Billion brings out. Anyone out there who can recommend a good brands of ViOP phones etc..that don,t look like childrens toy phones? (Some I saw in overseas online shops look very "cheap plastic toy" like). I am in the market for one, but it's got to be good looking, solid and nice. Maybe with some extra station for the rest of the house.Thanks.
