I got an LG writer a while back and yesterday I tried to burn a label on a Lightscibe disk. Unfortunately there is no option available in the Nero 7 I got with it.

Any ideas why it doesn't give me the option?

* The drive is Lightscribe compatible :p*

Strange. My Nero that I got with my Lightscribe LG drive did contain a "Lightscribe" function or was a Lightscribe Version of Nero anyhow.

Have you installed the lightscribe drivers? It then enables lightscribe in nero?

I installed everything that came with the disk. I don't recall seeing anything that mentioned Lightscribe come to think of it. :o

Vista or XP?

And are you using the Nero's CD label app for the lables?

Installed the drivers and still nothing

Nero Extras.

Also in the Lightscribe control panel it states "no lightscribe drives found"

Then its probably a problem with the drive/drivers. Not Nero?

Have you tried the drive on another IDE port, or by itself?

I also have LG DVD writer and have Nero 7 and this works for me :
GO TO : Start -
Click On : All Programmes
Click on : Nero 7
Click on : Labels
Click on :Nero Cover Designer
You shouldbe able to create new "lightscribe" document(see top left corner of "new document" page).
Hope this helps.

Nope nothing

Was just taking a look on the box of my LG Writer and there in the picture of the drive is the Lightscribe label. But when I look at my actual drive there is no Lightscribe label :eek:.

WTF

Open Device Manager, uninstall the drive and reboot your pc, see if works now ;)

After installing the Lightscribe drivers, do you get the "Lightscribe Control Panel" on your taskbar? Under "System Information" tab, does the control panel list your drive?

Nope

I've found what the problem is. The barcode sticker thingy states it's a H55N and the sticker on the drive also states it as a H55N. The H55N is not Lightscribe compatible.

So some idiot put a H55N drive in a H55L box
