I have a Cybersmart Lightspeed FTTH connection and it works for the most part, except that it's not allowing me to connect to PSN. I can't connect via my PS4, Vita or the site. Attempting to log in via the site gives me the following error message:

Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://auth.api.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/2.0/oauth/authorize?" on this server.

Reference #18.242ea5a5.1460200780.197eaeb

However, if I go through a VPN or through a 3G connection then it works perfectly.

Some preliminary googling suggests that my IP may have been blocked from Sony's auth servers. My IP address also appears on the spamrats.com blacklist with "Does IP Address comply with reverse hostname naming convention... Failed!" being given as the reason.

Has anyone else that uses Cybersmart ever run into the same issue? Suggestions for getting it fixed?

As far as I can tell, my options are probably among the following:

1) Constantly hassle Cybersmart until they give me a different IP address (All attempts to get them to do so thus far has just been met with constant: "Please send screenshots and traceroutes")
2) Find a suitable VPN and run all PSN connections through there. (A major hassle)
3) Change ISP

With lightspeed you have a static IP, so sadly restarting isn't going to give you a new IP.

"Does IP Address comply with reverse hostname naming convention... Failed!"
-> Interesting...
I haven't used Windows in a long time, so sadly if that is all you have, you'll have to figure out how to do reverse DNS checks yourself.
If you have a Mac or Linux however, you can just run this in the terminal:

dig +short myip.opendns.com @resolver1.opendns.com
196.<your IP>

dig +short -x 196.<your IP>
196.<your IP>.myadslip.net.

dig +short 196.<your IP>.myadslip.net
<nothing>

Maybe that is their problem, there is no A-Record pointing back to your host given the domain name.
However that can't be a problem imo, given that you aren't hosting a web-server.
Spamrats is probably aimed at companies not individuals.

Have you tried contacting Sony about the possible IP ban?

Secondly, there is something else that shocked me when I had gotten my router.
My router was completely open to the world.
So when you run http://mxtoolbox.com/PortScan.aspx you shouldn't see any green checkmarks. Especially not on port 80 or 433.

Btw the error you posted above may not be your problem, that is an oauth endpoint. Doing a GET on that may not work the way you think.
Did someone suggest you try to connect to that URL?
Does it work when you come in form another IP?

When I connect to that very same url from an EC2 instance I get the same result:
Last login: Sat Apr 2 19:06:22 2016 from 196.....

Yeah, but I haven't gotten a response from them. :/

That's telling me that the only open port is 22.

I don't hit that URL directly. Basically when I hit the login link on https://www.playstation.com/en-za then I get redirected to an error page with that message.

However, the login link works when I try it either through 3G or through a VPN. So yeah, it does work when I come in from a different IP.

I'm largely basing my assumptions based on some other threads I've found around the internet. This, for example, seems to perfectly describe the exact issues that I'm having:

https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/988516-anyone-else-being-denied-access-to-psn

This reddit thread also seems to describe the same issue:

https://www.reddit.com/r/playstation/comments/331a46/ip_blocked_by_psn/

The really weird thing is that it also seems to be completely intermittent. It wasn't working about a week and a half ago. It fixed itself on Sunday, but then broke again on Thursday night.

I'm actually trying to find the other reddit thread where they suggested looking to see if my IP address has been blacklisted anywhere.
