I am considering getting an Ultrabook for travelling. I am sick of hauling my high end laptop through airports. It will be mainly used to run Visual Studio and SQL Server Express.

What I need is :
Lightweight as I mentioned is the main requirement.
Decent quality.
SSD (256 minimum).
8 GB RAM minimum.
i5 processor or better

I don't need fancy graphics.

Can anyone share any thoughts, recommendations or personal experiences?

Thanks :)

Import a NEC Lavie Z HZ550 or a previous version which will be significantly cheaper. I did. They make the lightest laptops in the world. Lenovo now sells some of their machines.

Failing that if you want the best of the best, a Panasonic Let's Note RZ4 or similar which will be very light, more reliable and tougher than any other machine.

Both Panasonic and NEC make the best light machines, while Pany makes the most reliable and best built quality machines overall. Pany assembles their machines in Osaka, Japan. Pany especially stands behind their name.

Thank you for the great replies.

Broken1, the Surface Pro is really on my radar, but I want to see what the Pro 4 looks like when it is released.
