Hi,

Is there something I'm missing with disabling file sharing in Limewire ? I purchased a 1GB booster 2 days ago to download a few files - expecting to have a few 100MB lost when we got to the new month. However, they CAPPED me at midday yesterday and when I checked my usage stats, I noticed that I uploaded 350MB of files.

I've created my own saving folder, and deleted the sharing folder totally. I've also deleted the extention types, set upload bandwidth to 0% and changed upload connections to 0. Surely this is enough ? If this is all correct, the only thing I can think of is not restarting my PC - so perhaps settings didn't save ?

How are you disabling ?

I think that it is not possible to disable but in some programs if you set the upload speed to 0 then there is no speed limit (unlimited upload speed) I got the same problem with torrents. U must try to set it to 2 or 1

The Gnutella Network (Which LimeWire uses) works similarly to Bittorrent. It uploads the partial files which you are busy downloading. It makes for a much faster downloading experience, but they dont allow you to disable uploads as this is considered freeloading and is detrimental to the network. Which sucks a bit for people with a cap
