Popular online file-sharing service LimeWire was shut down by a US federal court on Tuesday following a lawsuit filed by the music industry.

If I read this article correctly, they can only force the company to stop distributing their software. As the peers on limewire are not owned by the Lime Group, I don’t see why it should stop working.

If I am correct, if you already have the software, then there is no reason why you cannot continue to use the service. Limewire never actually managed the service, just the software.

Of course, this can only be proven once someone tries to open Limewire. I will give it a try tonight.

Haven't used LimeWire since It was still in Beta. It was full of viruses then and it still is now. It's a shame though since I know a lot of people liked using it. Damn the music industry! They are hunting down torrents as well, that ish won't last forever but that is the beuty of this world, they shut it down, someone else will invent another P2P technology to replace it. It's a war that will last until the end of time!

i have downloaded plenty music and videos and i musta come across one virus that was downloaded and quarantined. Limewire would detect a virus before downloading it. for me programmes like Vuze take too long to download stuff and the uploads just kill bandwidth. I also installed Utorrent but that just aint user friendly. or is it?

tried it last nite and it still works. they do have a legal notice about their charges.
