Hi,

Yesterday there was some lightening, and my router made a "tik" sound. Now when i connect, i get the "Limited or no connectivity error". i am assigned an ip 10.0.0.##, and i can get onto the router, but i cannot get onto any other sites.

I have tried to restart/reset etc etc...... is my router poked???

i got the same problem, Local is lekker but international is ***a!!!

Seems like router fried......Guys please unplug your telephone line to router, power cable to all computer equipments before lightning strike. Don't take your chance! Surge supressor/UPS can not protect your equipment from a close strike!

Well I got the same problem here, dead or extremely slow International but local is fine. No lightning strikes or storms for ages.

I still couldn't connect to anyhting yesterday. The DSL light on the router flashed, like it was trying to connect to the exchange, but did not stay on.

What does this mean?

Taking a wild guess...could be ur router, could be a faulty line... when i got hit by lightning, the exchange blew and the router. Called telkom, they said exchange is broken. Next day i called they said exchange is broken again. 3 days later i called and they said my router is faulty...

Try this

go to RUN

type in "CMD" (enter)

type in "ipconfig" (enter) - it must not say auto config

if it does , type "ipconfig /renew" (enter)

then type "ping 10.0.0.2"

i can release and renew ips, i can connect to the router, edit, update settings, i just cannot get ping any other site....

any ideas?

Looks like it was the modem, telkom replaced it this morning.

And everything is working.

thanks to the Telkom Technician, Joseph Ramabi. Very friendly and efficient.
