Two police officers and an Ethiopian were arrested in Polokwane on Tuesday for alleged extortion, Limpopo police said.
Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said they were arrested by the Hawks when they were caught with R6500 allegedly extorted from Ethiopians who owned tuck shops in Witpoort.
Since 2011, they had allegedly collected R500 a month from each tuck shop, claiming it was for rent.
"A successful trap was set for the trio and they were caught in the act," said Mulaudzi.
The men would appear soon in the Phalala Magistrate's Court.
