Well that woman did manage to get on my nerves. I found myself constantly thinking "STFU you silly mare and let Lindiwe finish her fcking answer to the question YOU asked!"

People that does interviews like that irritate me. For me that is not a interview because the person being interviewed, no matter how relevant or good the answer, does not get a chance to finish her/his thoughts and then I get irritated because I wanted to get the full answer. IF the person's answer is not on topic or not relevant to the question or discussion...then sure..... And also...like others have mentioned. Race race race race. BORING! Very much a one dimensional mind this woman seems to have.

Well done to Lindiwe though. She did very well and stayd very cool and calm. I would have slapped that woman twice and then poked her in the eye. :p

As she says, she speaks a lot of Zulu. You are just watching her on the BBC which is why Zulu is not ideal. When she is out in the field and campaigning, she speaks Zulu all the time.

When it comes to grilling politicians I prefer that approach. If the politician isn't a lying sack of ****e, as most are, then they will come through unscathed. As mentioned before, they aren't forced to do the interview and if they have half a brain they will know what that show is about.

Beats the ass-kissing interviews you see on CNN, doesn't it ?

I guess...but I dont enjoy interviews like that. I cant enjoy a internies if the person does not get the chance to finish his/her's relevant and on topic answer. If the person being interviewed is talking absolute rubbish or is so far off topic you dont know what the hell they are talking about..then of course...take them on and grill them ... but for me this could have been such a enjoyable interview if it flowed more nicely and the answers were allowed to be given in their complete form.

But that is just me.

Best interviews are not on BBC or CNN, but on the most trusted name in news. Jon Stewarts, Daily Show and Steven Colberts, The Colbert Report.
 
How many south africans saw the interview? I think she must use more of her energy on doing sabc 1 interviews where the ordinary douth africans watch.

100% agree, hence my statement of 'ulterior motive' - She tried, albeit in vain, to twist Lindiwe's knickers into a knot, it was obvious from the questioning style they always employ. Some get enveloped with emotion some play it cool - Lindiwe played it cool.

I wish they still had interviewers like William F Buckley Jr on firing line. Nowadays Interviewers are really just opinion writers. Hardtalk is usually good, but this interview was lame. I also agree that Jon Stewart hosts good interviews as a comedian, but given that he is a comedian he doesn't always have long interviews.

You should watch Jon Stewart. I love his interviews... but he still plays very nice. I love Colbert because of his sarcasm (another show you should watch).

Not seen it. Either Hardtalk is on at some stupid time on UK tv, or they dont show it locally. Makes me think that more South Africans see it than do Brits.

What we do get to watch Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight on BBC giving UK Politicians a real good going-over. Far more "hardcore" than hardtalk :D
 
Quite a few S.A politicians have been on the show including Malema IIRC

I watch the daily show whenever I get time, however they should host their bloody programmes on youtube. It takes ages for me to stream.
