line dropping intermittently after thunder and lightning

Hi all

like the title says

my net was quite fine and syncing at 3.8mb,we had thunder and lightning yesterday and after that my line drops every 10-30mins and back up again..

As well the line syncs at 1.78mb now,even logged into the router and it says attainable is now 2.2mb instead of 12.9mb which it was last week.

things i tried:
when picking up the phone it has a terrible crackling sound
plugged the adsl line into wall unit so that it can sync without the filter but still it drops.

is it my side cause i'm feeling that telkom's line got a shot last night or exchange ?
 
At times lightning messes up my line as well. Probably a connection on the copper that overheated and got oxidized. So it's a line fault. Can be reported as a voice fault (excessive crackling) and/or an ADSL fault (poor syncing).
 
Google electromagnetic interference. This is why your line gets unstable when there's a storm. Not because of something get wet or overheating.

His line did get hit, I had the same issue.
 
funny thing now is the stats look better as the weather improved but still it drops my connection

they came to fix the line

snr is at 14.2db now
 
My line was bad,very bad they said

they didn't give much info but just said somehow the line got damaged(just mine) by thunder, 1hour later line was back to standard

And ive been waiting a month for them to come fix my line, gawd damnit.
 
update..

Phone is clear and sounds fine again

adsl drops every 2-3 hours :/ though my stats are fine ?

Ask TelkomZA to put you on the profile that sometimes fixes unstable lines
