Hi,

Starting with the start of the Easter week-end Friday, my line started re-syncing 4 times during the day Friday, an Saturday, was not home much Sunday, and the line has now already dropped and re-sync'ed 4 times since 07:30 this morning when I woke up ...

What gives?

Browsing is also atrociously slow ... <sigh>

Telkom farking around with the exchanges or what ... ?

Just a couple of questions, what router have you got? Is there any line filters etc on the same line? And how far are you from the telkom exchange?

A Telkom ADSL 5102G (BILLION ?) router, in bridged mode to a Smoothwall Box, less than 1.5 km to the exchange, with brand spanking new copper to the end of the block.

Filters, there are only a single filter for a telephone, if that is what you mean, otherwise nothing that I know about.

Until the weekend, I would get steady 38.8 downloads and on occasion go to 45 or 46 for short periods ...

Never had reason to complain before ...

I have had the same problem this weekend. I am with Afrihost connected to the Kelvin exchange. Which area are you based in?

Maybe, not, my guess is Telkom are beavering away at exchange "upgrades" before they respond to the likes of MWEB's uncapped offerings ( at least I hope so )

I am waiting for their response, before I make a move ...

You can try unplugging the tel line from the router and leave it out for about 10 to 15mins so as the line can reset on the exchange side. Other than resetting the router to factory defaults......

I've had this issue for sometime, depends on the day.. sometimes it happens when the phone rings too(not always) so could be my filter though... but this weekend I had no issues.

Can try that, tho reseting to factory defaults is not going to change much, other than turn on the wireless which is outside my firewall, and the required settings to connect to the exchange ...

had the same problem too this weekend and had to replace my old mega 105 when it kept resynching and ultimately not even turning on properly..

my new netgear works pefectly now..

whole 2 days without internet..felt like i was in the 80's...

My connection seems to have settled down, and my router is still fine ... <shrug>

Will monitor it some more and see what happens if anything ...

I've had this issue as well, starting only on friday. Line loses synch multiple times within about an hour and then stablises.

Mine was ok for an hour or so this afternoon then starting losing sync again. Back on my iBurst. Will see if this sync, unsync situation carries to tomorrow then log a fault.

My has been fine most of the afternoon, and has just now dropped line, and then resync'ed ... :(

Interesting, my line also just dropped a few mins ago. Was fine prior to that.

How do I find out what exchange im on?

Mine's been doing this all weekend on my old Telkom POTS modem - in the Randburg area, JHB. I had no issues when I was on my 512 line, before 1/4/2010.

Keep having to reset the modem/router. Getting my new modem on Wednesday, so will see if it makes a difference...
