Line drops randomly

So my issue is every 10 minutes or so my line just drops. Takes a minute or so to sync again, stays steady for another ten or so, then drops out again.

It syncs at the correct speed, line stats all look good.

I have changed UBR with PCR to without PCR and its been about half an hour now and I haven't lost sync YET. Could this be what affected it?
 
Not at home at the moment, will give exact figures after work, but it translates to an attainable rate of 12Mbps down and 880Kbps up. Syncing at 4Mbps down and 508Kbps up.

Still haven't dropped since changing to UBR without PCR. Could someone shed some light on what exactly that is?
 
Well, came home and I'm still getting dropouts. Phoned Telkom and they insist a port reset will fix it. It didn't.

To me your line stats look kind of weird. As per the article, the lower the attenuation the better and "60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues". Yours are 225 down and 101 up... I'm not sure that's even possible?

As for SNR the higher the better but again, 294 and 278 sounds way (impossibly?) high.

UBR = Unspecified Bit Rate: The UBR service category also is similar to nrt-VBR, because it is used for connections that transport variable bit rate traffic for which there is no reliance on time synchronization between the traffic source and destination. However, unlike ABR, there are no flow-control mechanisms to dynamically adjust the amount of bandwidth available to the user. UBR generally is used for applications that are very tolerant of delay and cell loss. UBR has enjoyed success in the Internet LAN and WAN environments for store-and-forward traffic, such as file-transfers and e-mail. Similar to the way in which upper-layer protocols react to ABR’s traffic-control mechanisms, TCP/IP and other LAN-based traffic protocols can modify their transmission behaviour in response to latency or cell loss in the ATM network.

PCR = Peak Cell Rate: The maximum allowable rate at which cells can be transported along a connection in the ATM network. The PCR is the determining factor in how often cells are sent in relation to time in an effort to minimize jitter. PCR generally is coupled with the CDVT (Cell Delay Variation Tolerance), which indicates how much jitter is allowable.

How these settings might or might not affect the stability of your line I unfortunately dunno.
 
Some routers use three digits instead of a decimal. His attenuation is actually 22.5 and 10.1
 
With my the arrival of my new fancy router, I was able to pinpoint the problem.

My new router monitors snr and attenuation in realtime. You can literally sit and watch as the numbers go up and down and with that I could see that my line stats were not OK.

Logged a fault that night with Telkom on their automated system and early the very next morning a Telkom guy was there. He slaved away for a solid three hours replacing cables and splitters and now the line noise is all gone.

SNR sitting above 30db and Attenuation below 20db and it sits there stable.

But I have a new problem. Line no longer loses sync randomly, and I have zero latency spikes and packet loss, but my line only syncs at 3.8Mbps down and 0.3Mbps up and my latency has doubled. My gaming experience is suffering because of this. Feck, I'm starting to lose my patience with this schyte now.
