As title says, since Telkom had their little idiocy hurdle my line drops for 20-30 seconds at a time, every 5 minutes between 6pm and 9am. Like clockwork. I have done the usual - 3 different modems, different cables, unplug phones, swapping of pots filters, etc etc. Called and was told the same old crap - will be 72 hours plus before it's in the tech division, blah blah ....... of course nothing came of it and when I used the ref number, it didn't exist.

Anyway .... since I moved here last September, I have had 1 issue with my line, it's been a joy. Their IP ballsup has broken something, anyone else getting issues?

Jaaa my line is dropping sync all the time and i have never had problems like that , got so bad i am using cellC fail over at the moment .
Dont know WTF has happened but come Tuesday morning i am going down to the exchange.
I am south Durban. rossburgh exchange.

I am having issues with my line aswell, all began that Friday afternoon.
What happens now is this:
If I reset the router for some reason i.e. at will or when the *&#$% power goes out, it battles to authenticate.
The router logs show a telling story about not being able to get a link to the authentication server.

The line doesn't go down but I am NOT HAPPY with these slow speeds!

At this writing, Youtube is useless... so damn slow I don't even bother!

Still happening, have logged the fault and haven't heard a peep from them as yet. It's crap that they get 2k a month from me but I can't use my phone or internet after 6pm

So today I took down the times my line dropped:
19:05
19:30
19:32
20:07
20:32
20:44
20:54
21:05

Yeah, mine looks very very similar hey, shortest time between drops is about 3 mins and longest is like 30 mins - all through the night

Have you tried a different router?

All different brands, all the same result

Mine seems to be the telkom ISP because the modem is not losing sync .
Had the tech guy here today :wtf: !@#$%^ i suppose it is not his fault he know not what to do.
He just shows me his remote test he does from his laptop and as far as he is concerned it passed. (the remote test tells him it passed)
They access the tester for that exchange and the unit in the exchange does the test and gives him the results.
Is any one else losing connection but not sync ??

I have the same problems. Been going on for about 3 weeks though.

My line started dropping at random times, about 5 times a day. Almost always at night, mostly between 5pm and midnight. I called Telkom and logged a fault the first time, they had someone come through, he took a look and said he fixed it - that night there was the same problem.

I phoned Telkom again, and they said everything looked fine their side and that it must be my router. So I splash out R600 on a new TP-Link router and give it a go. Exactly the same problem occurs. I log another fault, 2 weeks later they send a tech out and he comes and does some tests... He sees there is a line issue and 3 days later it's 'resolved'.

Now since that time, I've been having the same thing occur - it's less frequent but it's still happening. Around midnight, my line just drops and I wake up and have to restart my router for it to reset. I'm with Openweb as an ISP and they've already said it's not their side. But I've heard of quite a lot of people experiencing this recently, who knows when Telkom will address it.

Got a tech at the premises at last. He sees there is resistance on the line (?) and will see if he can fix from exchange or if not, he has to log it for them to come fix the cable, sigh :(
