Line keeps dropping - Telkom or Modem?

Hi All,

My ADSL recently started randomly dropping the connection. I'd be busy and suddenly the ISP light on the modem would go off and the DSL light would start flashing in order to resync. The line would sync and randomly drop again. On Friday it was as often as every 1-2 minutes.

Phoned Telkom and they re-something'ed the port and now it happens less regularly.

Can this be an issue with my modem or am I right to expect Telkom to resolve it?

Not sure how to check. Modem is a Trendnet TEW658BRM.

I am now wondering whether it is the modem or whether it's just this new Telkom Assia system that was causing my disconnects.

I've changed my modem to a Netgear and have not had disconnects again that I've noticed, but my line speed is down from 8.5 MB/s to about 7MB/s.

Will keep monitoring, but seems this Assia system may cause us many a headache.

Yep its causing me a lot of trouble too, my line before January was synced perfectly fine at 10, now I get 6-8mbps, and more frequent connection problems, this is just bull****!!
