Hi guys,

Looking for some info here. I am having massive problems with latency at the moment. A bit of background info: since the last time my local exchange went down (for a good few days), I have had some form of latency (purely coincedental, of course ;-). Since last week it has reached ridiculous levels where dailup would be faster half the time!

If I browse multiple pages at the same time my regular line speed returns (in terms of the amount of time spent moving data vs the amount of time spent doing nothing). But load just one or two URLs and I sit, and sit, and sit until the page times out.

I report the fault and get a confident "fault resolved" SMS the next morning. Needless to say nothing has changed. I re-report the fault and now have a technician telling me it's my wireless signal (using a Mega 100WR)! Okay, so evidently something in the air has changed overnight and now affects my wireless signal so severely that it times out trying to send 100kb over a distance of 5m. I am sorry, but I simply cannot accept this as an explanation. I am told I need to connect via a network cable. I am told that my router is not faulty and that they are all like that.

Really?

Do you too suffer 5-minute-long gaps where your little 100WR doesn't budge a single megabit either way?

Rubbish.

Please holler if you can think of any creative way to solve this madness... at the moment I am just hitting my head against a brick wall (and paying for the privilidge!). :o
