Line noise / how do I know it's improved?

Hi

A few months ago I had a 4Mb line installed at my town house. Unfortunately, after Telkom connected it I found that my maximum speed was 384Kb/s because of signal noise. This was possibly due to distance from the DSLAM. I subsequently cancelled the ADSL and started using 8ta, but I find 3G to be inconsistent at best.

Is there any way to know whether my Telkom situation would have improved without re-connecting ADSL ?

From the above post it seems that Telkom stated that 384Kb/s was best you could achieve due to your distance from the exchange, only they will be able to advise if this has changed due to infrastructure upgrades.

It would help if we knew more or less where you are some exchanges have already been changed to ISAMs and there are MSANs installed and being installed.

I'm in Atholl Gardens, Sandton. If I remember correctly, I think I'm connected to the Marlboro exchange.

Marlboro exchange was upgraded to support 40mbps in September.
