line only syncs while on a voice call

My adsl line will only sync on a voice call. The moment the call is ended my line drops!

Any help?!!??!?!?!?! Plz, it is seriously p1ss1ng my off now.

Yes my microfilter is installed correctly. Its been working fine until the end of last week.

I can understand a line fault (or a microfilter fault) causing a voice call disconnect to interfere with the DSL connection. But are you saying if you have no voice call active you can't sync to start with? Sounds very odd. Unless the voice equipment is causing a short or has some noise.

Like the above suggestion, plug the router directly into the socket - and unplug everything else on the line including any other extensions you may have in the house.
 
thanks guys, i will try that tonight.

but I was messing around last night and noticed something. I do not need to actually be on a call. Once I lift the receiver off the phone, even without dialling my line then syncs and connects. once I put the receiver down the line drops again!

I will change the microfilter tonight after plugging straight into the socket. thanks a million
 
I had the same problem a while ago... every time I wanted to use my adsl, I had to put the phone off the hook.

Ended up being a faulty micro-filter.... after replacing that, all was fine.

I had exactly the same problem as well. However, using various filters did not solve the problem. After numerous visits by technicians the fault was eventually traced to a stretch of cable between two poles. Once they replaced that section the problem completely disappeared.
 
and suddenly last night it magically started working again. *TOUCH WOOD* no complaints though :)
