Line or router?

Good day peeps,

So I have had quite some issues of late with my line but seems much better now. The only problems I still get though are when I'm playing games and someone else uses the internet to browse or anything I get massive spikes, also feels like it could be packet loss (shows packet loss on TS, can't fully trust what the program says though).

I understand this could be normal on a 4mb as not enough bandwidth maybe, but the thing is this never used to happen about a month or 2 ago. That's why I'm a bit confused as to why is the line not able to handle this now. Could it be a router problem?

Another note is that sometimes my browsing seems quite slow sometimes, so I just reset the router and works like normal again.

Thanks!

Who is your ISP, what are your line stats (found in router under ADSL stats)?

Depends on what they are viewing/downloading, but sharing a line swill definetly impact your latency. As for packetloss, that does not sound normal, unless your router is being maxed out in terms of PPS. But I doubt it on a 4mb link.

Sounds like a line sync issue. But again, with having the other issue you mentioned above, all evidence points to a router conking out. Maybe try another router and check the results

This is just after I restarted the router though.

I actually have no idea, I just put in ISP (MWEB) details and let it do its work. Will check now, not sure where to find it, is it regarding the "ADSL Modulation"?

Those are all the ones that are "enabled"

That means you are on an old dslam that is probably served with atm uplink hence the ADSL1 connection.

As for your original problem you would have to test it with another router to be sure but stats wise you are looking good and those stats should give you full 4Mbps speed without any issues unless it's the router or if the dslam is getting congested....

Does this happen at specific times like peak times are all the time?

Hi Shadow07

I tried running a test on the line but got no readings. Mostly errors.

I'm going to do a few things to see if I can get readings. Will DM you further.

Good Day Shadow07, I checked your line readings and the line is now syncing at 128kbps.

I have now recreated the port, please switch the router off for 5 minutes and let me know once you are connected again.

We need to test the line sync speeds again.

Morning, I see my line totally vanished last night, no readings at all then this morning it was at that ridiculous speed. Will try get someone to turn it off now.

Thank you
