given that the monthly adsl line rental is the only reason i have a 384 line... if Telkom was to scrap it they'd have to find some other way to charge for line speed?

Well...I,m guessing so, otherwise I'm gonna be upgrading straight to 4mb :)

and i'm sure a lot of people would join me on that move ;)

heh. well depends if the billing period is completely outside the period when regulation came in.

In the event the line rental speeds got scrapped, it would be the ISP doing the charging for the size of your pipe (as far as I know). i.e. a 3GIG 192KB would cost x on the ISP side and a 3GB 4mbps line would cost y

uhm don't they charge post month? its the 3rd sept

Got the bill here...

"Your Telephone Line 27 Aug 06 - 26 Sep 06 R87.65"
"HomeDSL 192 27 Aug 06 - 26 Sep 06 R214.91"

Are you going to make a complaint to ICAISA? As soon I have bill in hand I'm scanning that bill and sending it straight to whomever can make a difference! Telkom is trying to stretch this thing as long as they can, or just plain ignoring it. Can we technically take Telkom to court to reclaim the line rental?

This is the burning question for me. When did the new ruling come into effect, by when should Telscum comply with these rules, and what recourse do we have if they dont comply?

The new ruling was in immediate effect, except the 30 day installation period, which came into effect on 1 Sept 2006.

Telscum should have already complied with these rules, if you've got evidence they haven't complied, lodge a complaint to ICASA
