I'm on a 384 line. The past 3 months or so I've had intermittent slow speed on my line. Right now it is crawling again. Just did a speed test to http://speedtest-rba.isdsl.net/ and it gave me a speed of 2kB/s. This normally last a few hours and then it is back to full speed. Same results with different ISPs.
My router stats are as follows:
SNR Margin(Upstream) 17 dB
SNR Margin(Downstream) 25.0 dB
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 24.0 dB
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 57.5 dB
CRC Errors(Upstream) 50654
CRC Errors(Downstream) 0
Yes, I am far from the exchange, but I've had ADSL for many years now and it never been a problem. All the above stats are pretty much what it normally is on, except for the high CRC Errors. I've listened on the line and there is no noise on the line. I've tried different filters, doesn't make any difference. Even removed my handset and use router only on the line. I recently got a new billion router, could that be causing my difficulties. My old marconi packed up so I don't have another router to use to test.
I can't make up my mind, should I report this to Telkom? Because most likely, by the time a tech come here it will be back to full speed. Any suggestions?
