Line speed upgrade waiting time?

Hi guys.

Just a quick question.
I am currently with Axxess on a 4mb combo account, today I upgraded to a 10mb combo account. Currently the account is at 10mb but my line is still at 4mb.

Just wanted to know how long it will take for Telkom or the ISP to upgrade the line speed?

Sorry, cannot agree with this...

From 4 to 10Mbps could potentially be an issue. It is not always just a online activation by an operator. This is regardless of who you lease your lease from, whether Telkom or through an ISP. Telkom Wholesale may not give preference to any ISP, especially not to TelkomInternet.

If your current 4Mbps ADSL service is provisioned from an old DSLAM that is only capable of speeds of up to 4Mbps, then it will require a technician to physically re-jumper your cable connection to another DSLAM, IMAX, MSAN or ISAM in your exchange. Very few Telkom exchanges are manned so it will require the technician to travel to the site.
 
Maybe true if your port support the requested speed . Operator should be able to tell you yes/no while you hold on
But if exchange/port don't support asked speed will be longer or even not possible :(

That's why I worded my reply carefully... :p

AFAIK all requests are routed to DTAC so the first line call centre operator cannot change your line speed.
 
Well, thanks for the resposes guys.

Seems like the job maybe a little harder than I imagined, I'll give it a few days and see if anything happens..
I do however remember telkom laying fiber right up to my complex's gate, and building a mini exchange in it, so I don't think there'll be an issue of upgrading the exchange..

So hopefully it will be soon.
 
I got Telkom to upgrade my line from 4 to 10 Mb a couple of weeks ago. Made the request at a Telkom shop on Sunday morning, the upgrade was done during the course of the following Thursday.

The only problem is that Axxess manages my line, so I guess telkom will have no control.

No no.
It means that you cannot ask Telkom directly (usually). You need to ask Axxess, and they'll put the request in with Telkom. Depending on who you get at Axxess, they could put the request in immediately, or put it in a batch, which is what they usually do.
