Hi guys n' gals

Moving back to pta either mid or late dec, need to move my ADSL line that is currently with Afrihost, I'm also an immigrant so have a R700 deposit that Telkom has to contend with.

What's going to be easier

A) Get Afrihost to transfer line back to Telkom and then request an address transfer from Telkom.

AH says I can request now and it'll be moved back beginning of Dec, what's the downtime like and will it be done fast enough to get my line up and running at the new place early Jan?

B) Cancel completely and sign up for the new line

With this I'm worried about the deposit nonsense.

Anyone done anything similar?

I don't see why you need to transfer the line back to Telkom to do a transfer, just ask them to do it as is.

So can Telkom move the line if Afrihost is "managing" it? That will be the easiest.

Are you sure your house in PE has an ADSL line already?

PTA, Pretoria... Yes there's ADSL with ports open, checked before I signed the lease!

Well that was easy, they can move it even though AH manages it... 10min convo on online chat and I have an order number, I'm sure it'll all go tits up somehow but anyway...

And so it begins, they very helpfully moved my relocation date to the 17th of Nov, a month before I move... Online with Telkom chat and because I put in my second name(which is what everyone calls me) they weren't able to help me.

Now to wait again....

So yes, I had to reopen a chat and wait again because I put in my second name rather than my first in the little box and they didn't believe I was the account holder... Back to Dec 18!
