Any other South African people play?

Currently if enough people interested to start Clan. (Ingame Guild term)

For those who dont know Like World of Warcraft, Everquest etc etc Lineage 2 is a subscription based MMORPG. With great PvP Elements.
A monthly fee of $14.99 (Like WoW) Aval for Download via ncsoft (Can buy Cd Key online) www.lineage2.com.

The client is 2 gigs...However people with Cap issues i will happily mail a DvD with Client (Just pay dvd/postage)

Tested Lineage 2 Via Lowping (www.nukecap.co.za) Runs great. Flawlessly. Avg Bandwidth per hour 2/3mb +-
I imagine on ISDN it will run pretty good too.

ADSL Shaping is deff a no go.
Expect slight delays with unshaped.

Aiming for Devianne server (seems best latency to SA)

If enough support i do have a Ventrilo server for Voice usage.

Guild Wars players wont have a problem with Lineage 2 movement/Interface. They virtually the same.

Expansions ....promised by NCSoft for Lineage 2 are Free. Just expect 400 meg downloads when they release them.

Pm me if anyone interested in joining or for client. Currently I have some Euro friends who will join too. Another South African. To help keep in same timezone.

On a last note...If you buy CD Key via Website...the first 30 days are free. www.plaync.com Official Website for accounts

Just got my game key from plaync.com, borgir is showing me the ropes :)

So far, game engine is really beautifull, I can see myself playing alot of this.

Lineage 2 has gotten waaay better than when it launched. Grind is no where near as bad as it was, your first toon also gets free buffs from an NPC round the starter villages until they are lvl 25 which is a big help.

Some of it's strong features include:
* PvP everywhere with death penalty!
* Challanging
* Awesome Graphics even on relatively low end machines
* Dont need uber system to run it
* Good class/skill balance
* Good crafting
* Sieges (best PvP)
* Good clan support

Just look at Chonical 4 trailers (the gameplay trailer is real gameplay (although nicely edited and directed), that's what it actually looks like while your playing (GFX card and PC permitting))

What might put a lot of people off is that this is not a MMORPG lite like WoW. You WILL NOT max out your character in a month. Nor in 6 months. Maybe in a year if you play quite a bit.

Also, people are a bit scared of PKing. I haven't found it to be much of an issue though, but yeah it does happen.

The Pking is what makes me love this. Last year when i played i had no PK problems. I think only once in my lifetime while grinding or grouping have i had a Pker attack me. (and he lost :p)

Unless you look for trouble that is ;)

I do enjoy tormenting the Ebay Farmers HeaHea > : )

The penalty for murdering an innocent person is heavy. Often why you wont have problems.

Apart from PvP it has tons to do...Just like WoW you have Raids, Crafting etc. Just a lot more...Such as the Wish Quest, lottery, Derby. A lot more activities ingame to do if you wanna take a break from grind.

Very easy game to get into. However as said above....This is not WoW where you can cap max lvl in a month 24/7. Agreed that maybe..maybe a year 24/7 you will hit max lvl.

All we need now is a Clan name :p

What race and class did you choose Borgir? What lvl/rank or what you call it and skills do you have.

Lvl 40 Dark Avenger - Human.(Heavy tank/heavy wep caster class) Skills for Dark Avenger...you can summon a nice Evil Panther to help you solo. Other skills like hamstring bleed/slow targets....Reflect dmg..heavy armor wearing skills. Shield slam (Stun) Armor buffs..defense buffs... Power strike, Self Heal. Drain Life....Corpse Scavange *eat corpse for HP* mmmMmmM:D. Loads more and more to come..however those are ones i use mostly. Basically a paladin that is evil.

Clan lvl 2 at moment, server Devianne

Eyegouge n Clipse jam lineage 2 too ;) Come say hi! :D

Character name - Levictus

Oh your web is starting to reel me in :D If i dont watch out I might join you guys soon. :)

Uhm a question about lineage 2, is there player housing in the game? and do all the characters look the same as in WoW? Is pvp as awesome as people say it is? and are there any instances (i hate instanced dungeons and anything else of the sort)

No Instances at all...No load screens to enter dungeon apart from an NPC to teleport you in or swimming down a dark cavern to enter. One seamless world.

PvP Is as good as it makes out. I would say one of the Top rated PvP Games. How shadowbane should have been.

Sadly character custom options are not best...you will often find same looking faces..however armor and weapons beat WoW in different graphics. Tons and tons of different types.

No player housing..Only Clan (Guild) Housing and Guild Castles

cool, i'll definitely be looking into this game a bit more, just a little pricey to buy. R296 from plaync.com , but as u said that includes first 30 days free which is ok.

The overall Graphics and Models are much better than WoW. Runs well too.

A bonus is the expansions are free....however you will need them in order to play Lineage 2. These are not small expansions...but full blown areas, skills, quests etc.
At the moment Lineage 2 is on Chronicle 4 (expansion 4) Which has now been built into the full client download. Hefty 2.2gig though.

Lineage 2 does not have as much Emotes like WoW would have either. However you find it does not impact it much at all. Rarely even use Emotes.

Both WoW and l2 are good games...yet totally different as posts have said. Lineage 2 is deff more for person who wants a challenge in an MMORPG....Anatharas Lair (Enormous dragon) makes Blackwing lair and MC look like kindergarden :eek:

Raids you find often need specific classes to complete. Much more teamwork needed

You will also come along Monsters with tag <Raid monster> Above head. These start generally lvl 20 +
I did try to solo a lvl 20 Raid monster...thinking it would be like Scarlett Monastry Boss....However within 5 seconds i was eating dirt. (Me being lvl 40) So a lot different than usual raids or when compared lvl 60's soloing lvl 20/30 Raid bosses.

Hmmm! Interesting. How do the stats and skills work? the more you do it the more you gain? or is it more like guild wars?

Stats work a bit different too. You dont find armor or weps that have + STR or DEX etc.

Armor gives you armor...simple as that in L2....the higher the armor...the more Pdef(Ingame armor level)
There are some exceptions.
Some armor or *special* Armor. Give a bonus if you have all the items....Such as boots/Gloves/Helmet/Chest/Legs will give you + 200 Hitpoints....If you had shield ontop of that a + 20 % bonus to your shield skills.

Weapons again dont have stat bonuses...however you can enchant weapons to increase it's damage or *special* Procs/effects.

All weapons level 20 + You can enchant to a basic damage bonus.
This works on using enchant scrolls to increase the damage. The max you can do to a weapon is +3. If you go higher...you start overclocking the weapon :P +4 is 50 % risk of it breaking.....+5 much higher etc etc.

Weapons and Equip do NOT Degrade from combat. You can only break a weapon by over enchanting it and it fails. Your weapon breaks into pieces and returns you back crystals to sell to players (50 % of the weapons worth)
So careful when enchanting.

Once level 40 + Weapons you find allow you to add effects to them. Weapons have sockets which you can only use one to choose....For example a Samurai Longsword you can Haste/Focus or Add +Critical dmg

Only allowed to add one....It is very expensive to do so too.

Lastly on Stats...To increase your characters STR/DEX/CON etc....is by using tattoos. These are expensive for the rewarding high + stat ones...and only worth using lvl 52 + once your character cannot solo and is required to group to progress.

Skills work on Skill Points....Once you level you unlock skills....and use SKill Points to buy the skills along with improving them :)

So you spend 50 Skill Points on Shield stun and it will cost 80 Skill Points to improve it etc etc.

what are the most popular race and class in lineage? or combinations?

Think of it as class and not really race....Since it is racial based classes and not the standard Human can share what an orc can be etc etc like WoW.
Each Race has it's own classes. So if someone asks for a Gladiator..you know it is a Human.

The most common i have seen have been Prophets, Buffer/Healer.(Human Mystic Sublcass)
Abyss Walkers(Dark Elf Assassin Sub class) and Gladiators (Human Warrior Sub class)

The rarest i have seen...and i only seen one!! Is a Paladin! Go figure that! :eek:

Each race has it's advantages and disadavantages... Dark Elves run speed, to Humans Relax (Regen) Etc.

It is done very well in a RP Sense that Each Race has it's own classes/kingdoms....merchants etc.

ahh i see, that makes the game so much more interesting :)

Hey everyone , just bought the game on thursday night. Well i must say so far its been interesting , its unlike any mmorpg i've played (WoW, UO , GW). Its a really good game. Just try it out for the first month , you'll get hooked pretty quickly and the gfx are excellent. Community is a lot different. People tend to be friendlier and not as childish as in WoW. No instancing (i like to compete for resources) battles are awesome. Its not easy which is good. WoW is too easy. This game is for people looking for a challenge. Itemization is awesome. You'll never look exactly like someone else in armour

Slicky - Hook up with us on devianne, we got a nice guild going, pm borgir he is pretty much organizing everything :p
