I have been working towards putting together a version of the lineage port of the android operating system running on a raspberry pi 4b 8Gb model, with the idea being that since it can make use of an external UVC webcam as primary camera, it would make it possible to use various forms of assisstive technology object and text recognition software, of which there are plenty available for the android platform, but, working with an external camera as input.
For example, I have here a generic version of some video camera sunglasses, with the camera embedded in the bridge between the lenses, so, it's not too obvious, can be worked with totally hands-free, etc.
Anyway, have now gotten it up and running, but, there's one slight oddity - at times, when apps try to work with the camera, it seems to hit a form of system resource overload, etc., and, am trying to figure out how to work around this, or fix it.
The other reason for all of this is the total price of all components, etc. comes to less than 10% of similar, pre-assembled gadgets in the same focus area, and, what with all the software available for the android platform, could, literally blow them all 'out the water'.
For a more detailed report, with links to all relative information, you can check out the following page, if you have thoughts or suggestions on fixes/workarounds, ideas, etc.:
