Lines and Artifacts on Screen.

In the mean time google "your games name" and artifacting and see if you get any hits.

I've tried, but the game is RIFT and the problem is you get allot of artifacts as loot in the game, thus no hits on the problem itself :)

Might I suggest baking it in the oven for a bit :D

http://www.overclock.net/t/623774/guide-total-noobs-guide-to-baking-a-gpu

Did it to a 8800, artifacting on desktop with no load, a couple of years back and it worked.

DISCLAIMER: DO NOT ATTEMPT this if you are not willing to chuck the gpu in the bin if it fails.

I recon take it back and replace it if it's close to new... this oven baking is really a half baked idea... Who ever tries this has bigger balls than brains....lol

Drivers (try the 4 in one ATI driver latest version|), card contact cleaning, and make sure the fan is working.. Does this happen only on a certain game? Or does it happen after doing a bit of work. Once the card overheats this could occur due to a dust clogged or faulty fan... Another thing to check is power to the card... Does this specific card require external power? If so check that your power supply is good enough to drive the card.. I have experience the same with a brand new ATI 6880 which was not getting enough power. As soon as I needed the GPUs to do some work the card would make the image on the screen fall over... I replaced the machines power supply and all good...

Just an idea... I used to get artifacts appearing intermittently. Also thought it was the gpu. In the end it was a lcd monitor problem. Was difficult to get to the root cause as all would look fine one moment and messed up the next with no specific app or action. Took the monitor in for testing and had it repaired (under warranty)

I've also seen artifacts due to the monitor cabling/adapters (particular DVI->HDMI or VGA->HDMI converters) being used!

Literally the worst advice ever... the card is brand new and he isn't getting high temps.

Oh snap, I missed the brand new part. I did this to my card waaaay out of warranty and after getting a new one. If it is brand new just get a replacement.
